Twitter users have criticised Love Island contestant Curtis Pritchard for describing Jordan Hames as "brave" after the model "cheated" on girlfriend Anna Vakili.

During Tuesday night's episode, Jordan opened up to islander India Reynolds about his true feelings for her, despite having asked Anna to be his girlfriend over the weekend.

On Wednesday night, Curtis discussed Jordan and Anna's situation with his partner Maura Higgins, after advising Jordan to inform India how he felt instead of first letting Anna know of his doubts over their romance.

During the show, Curtis told Maura that Jordan was "brave" to have been honest about his feelings.

"This has nothing to do with you and nothing to do with me," the 23-year-old dancer told Maura.

The model replied: "Well it kind of does because you gave him the advice, so in this situation, if I was your girlfriend you would do the same thing."

Curtis responded: "I don't know what I'd do in that situation", prompting Maura to later say in the beach hut, "[Cutis is] saying he doesn't know what he would have done.

"Then don't give your advice. Plain and simple."

Twitter users have expressed their shock over Curtis' support for Jordan, weeks after the ballroom dancer broke up with former islander Amy Hart in order to pursue a relationship with Maura.

"Sorry but did curtis actually say jordan’s ‘brave’ for basically trying to cheat on Anna? sorry but how tf does that work? [sic]," wrote one user.

Another added: "'He’s brave', 'THATS CHEATING' thank you Maura!!! [sic]"

"Did Curtis REALLY just call Jordan ‘brave’ BRAVE ?????? [sic]" wrote another.

"Honestly BIG UP Tommy & Greg for telling Jordan how it is unlike Curtis calling him “brave” ... actually wtf [sic]," wrote one viewer.

Earlier in the programme, Anna sat in the beach hut and expressed her disappointment over the demise of her relationship following Jordan's admission that he had feelings for India.

"Why can't I be that girl who comes in here and finds someone who really likes me, and wants to treat me well?" the trained pharmacist asked.

"Why do I have to be the girl that comes in here and gets tricked into a relationship?"

Curtis later admitted to Maura that he regretted telling Jordan to reveal his feelings to India before telling Anna the truth.
