From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

An Australian couple has launched the world’s first wedding magazine for lesbians.

The brainchild of Tara Baker and Arlia Hassell – an Aussie couple who celebrated their engagement last year – Dancing With Her was created after they hit a brick wall while planning their nuptials.

They found that every single wedding publication on the market was solely aimed towards heterosexual couples and as such, decided to fill the gap themselves.

A country on the verge of voting for gay marriage – the latest poll shows nearly 60 per cent of the population want it legalised – the Australian magazine aims to offer a space where women can be inspired by real stories of love and weddings as well as educating vendors on how to be inclusive within the industry.

Presently an online journal, Dancing With Her’s first ever print edition is set to launch on Tuesday making it the world’s first bridal magazine of its kind.

Jam packed with more than 100 pages of beautiful imagery, real wedding stories from women in Australia and beyond, and advice to get you on the right track in your wedding planning journey, it’s “bursting at the seams with love and celebration.”

Ahead of the launch, Baker and Hassell created a corresponding Instragram page teeming with beautiful and inspirational images of real life lesbian weddings from all over the globe.

From couples being showered in confetti or sharing their first kiss as newlyweds to venue, cake and outfit ideas, the uplifting shots serve not only to inspire but to also represent diversity within wedding media.

“Although Australia does not yet have marriage equality, we know that women who are in same-sex relationships are choosing to celebrate their love and make a lasting commitment to one another, and that deserves celebrating,” they say on their website.
