Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

HYMN TO LOVE

Abandon all preconceptions: this outstandingly atmospheric show about Piaf has nothing to do with third-rate biography or Stars in Their Eyes impersonation. Timothy Sutton's musical direction is superb, as is Annie Castledine's scrupulous, superbly lit production, while Elizabeth Mansfield as the singer is just electrifying.

Drill Hall, WC1 (0171-637 8270)

SEVEN SACRAMENTS

Neil Bartlett and Nicolas Bloomfield's enormous and enormously ambitious dramatic oratorio about everything from childhood to death has a cast of 150 dancers, singers, musicians and actors. Closes tonight.

Southwark Cathedral, SE1 (0181-741 2311)

THREE BY PINTER

Penelope Wilton is simply mesmerising as a woman who wakes up after sleeping for 29 years in Pinter's quiet masterpiece, A Kind of Alaska. There's more superb acting in the double-bill of early plays that follows, from Pinter himself and the excellent Colin McFarlane in The Collection and Douglas Hodge, outstanding opposite Lia Williams in the erotic double- act, The Lover. Grab tickets quick.

Donmar Warehouse, WC2 (0171-369 1732)
