Your support makes all the difference.The latest in a growing number of celebrities, singer Katy Perry has broadcast her affiliation with the cryptocurrency boom with a meretricious manicure.
Just when you thought we had reached peaked cryptocurrency, Perry posted a photo of her nails on Instagram with the caption, “$—CrYpTo ClAwS—$”.
She also tagged her nail artist as well as an array of crypto-related Instagram accounts.
The intricate designs were set against a background of dollar bills, while each nail was decorated with a 3D symbol to represent a different cryptocurrency.
She went with Ethereum on her thumb and Litecoin for her index finger, while Bitcoin and Monero adorned her middle and ring fingers.
For her little finger she opted for the lesser-known Stellar.
A sure-fire sign that cryptocurrency is infiltrating mainstream culture, the singer’s post has been liked more than 140,000 times.
But, this isn’t the first time Perry has shared her interest in digital currencies.
Back in November 2017, she also posted a photo of herself with successful investor Warren Buffet alongside the caption, “nbd just asking Warren Buffett his thoughts on cryptocurrency.“
And, she isn’t the only one. From rapper 50 cent’s accidental Bitcoin win after accepting payment for an album he released in 2014, to Snoop Dogg, boxer Floyd Mayweather and even Paris Hilton, celebrities are flaunting their involvement with the crypto-hype. But, is it going to last?
A growing number of leaders are raising concerns over the use of digital currencies including Donald Trump’s most senior financial policymaker who is urging for international regulation to stop the use of cryptocurrencies for crime and other problem behaviour.
Meanwhile, Theresa May has announced that she will look at bitcoin and other digital currencies “very seriously”.
