At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Claire Foy has delighted Twitter while chewing on a Wine Gum sweet during her Baftas 2019 red carpet interview.

On Sunday night, Foy – who is nominated for her Supporting Actress role in First Man at the awards show – stopped on the red carpet to speak to interviewers Dermot O’Leary and co-host Edith Bowman ahead of the ceremony.

During the interview, Foy told O’Leary that she was hungry and asked the broadcaster to “get her some chocolate” before he returned with an open packet of Wine Gums.

"It’s cold and it’s like dinner time and I haven’t eaten and I’m confused. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going,” Foy told the hosts.

“Oooh, it’s a Wine Gum. Thank you!" the nominated star said as she attempted to chew on a sweet and answer the interviewers' questions.

Twitter users have reacted to the hilarious moment, describing it as the “highlight of the carpet”.

One user wrote: “Claire Foy is a forever mood.”

“Claire Foy, I’m hungry too,” added another.

Another fan wrote: “My queen forever, Claire Foy #Firstman #EEBAFTAs.”

Before proceeding with her red carpet walk, Foy took a handful of Wine Gum sweets for the “journey” towards the Royal Albert Hall.

Foy is nominated for her role as Janet Armstrong, the wife of astronaut Neil Armstrong, in First Man opposite Ryan Gosling.
