From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

In a somewhat unexpected (and weird) foray into the world of Thanksgiving recipes, it seems that White Castle is convinced their sliders make the perfect turkey stuffing, and so have re-released their 'famous' slider stuffing recipe.
Originally invented in 1991, the story goes that the stuffing “was initially the work of an enterprising employee who wanted to ‘enhance’ her grandma’s recipe.” While it is likely you have never heard of this 'famous' recipe, according to Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle, families across the country make the White Castle Turkey Stuffing a staple of their Thanksgiving dinner.
As for the secret ingredient? White Castle Sliders obviously.
Overall, the recipe seems simple enough, White Castle Turkey Stuffing calls for:
- 10 White Castle Sliders (no pickles)
- 1 ½ cups of diced celery
- 1 ¼ teaspoons each of ground thyme and ground sage
- 1 ½ teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
- ¼ cup chicken broth.
Curious about whether the recipe actually results in stuffing worthy of the big day, we reached out to Sara Bojarski, founder and head chef for Urban Cookery, who made the stuffing in 2014 after repeated requests from her husband, and who highly recommends it on her website.
According to Bojarski, the first time she incorporated White Castle sliders into her stuffing she didn’t tell her family until the meal was over. But once she revealed her secret ingredient, the responses were unanimously positive.
Since then, White Castle turkey stuffing has become a staple at Bojarski’s house. When asked if the stuffing would be present at this year's Thanksgiving meal, Bojarski said definitely.
"It is definitely worth trying and I get a ton of hits on my website every year around Thanksgiving for the recipe along with people emailing me how much they loved it."
