Your support makes all the difference.Chrissy Teigen has revealed that she has been sober for a month in response to a fan’s Instagram comment about her positive-seeming mood.
On Tuesday, the Cravings author, who is currently on vacation in St Barts with her family, uploaded an Instagram video of herself dancing in a swimsuit and singing Good Morning from Singing in the Rain.
“Good morning!!!” the 35-year-old captioned the clip.
The entertaining, high-energy video prompted one of Teigen’s more than 33.5m Instagram followers to jokingly comment: “I need whatever drugs you’re on!!”
The comment elicited a response from Teigen, who revealed that she has been sober for several weeks.
“4 weeks sober,” the cookbook author wrote alongside numerous heart and praying emojis.
Teigen’s response, which has since been liked more than 5,000 times, prompted messages of support from many of her followers.
“Amazing! 15 years sober here. Keep going beautiful! One day at a time,” one follower commented.
Another said: “Congratulations, you have been going through a lot lately, I am glad that you are feeling better. Happy holidays to you and your family.”
The mother-of-two’s admission comes after she initially revealed her sobriety in an Instagram caption on Christmas Eve.
“Merry x mas eve! Trying to figure out if my love of face crystals is a phase of sobriety or a lifestyle,” Teigen captioned a video of her and daughter Luna. “Crystals and no makeup are a vibe and I am officially announcing them as my vibe.”
Teigen first discussed her relationship with alcohol in 2017 during an interview with Cosmopolitan, where she revealed that she was “point blank, just drinking too much”.
"I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show,” she said.
During the interview, Teigen also explained that her family has a history of alcohol abuse and that she's the type of person who "can't just have one drink”.
“Nobody really brought it up to me," Teigen continued. "They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn't right. It makes you very short with people. People think it's cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there's more to it. I've never once been like: 'I'm sure glad I had that boozy brunch!'"
At the time, she said she contemplated going “totally sober”.
