From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chrissy Teigen has shared a naked photograph of herself on Instagram to encourage fans to love themselves.

In the photo, the 35-year-old posed in a bathroom mirror with her hands over her breasts, which have been scarred by recent surgery, and her abdomen, which has also recently undergone surgery and had bandages on it.

“Happy Valentine’s Day. Love yourself! B*** has been throuuugh it,” the former model wrote in the caption over the top of the picture.

Teigen has recently undergone two surgeries, one to remove her breast implants and another due to alleviate pain she suffers from because of endometriosis.

The NHS states that endometriosis is a common condition where small pieces of the womb lining (the endometrium) are found outside the womb.

Symptoms can include pain in the lower abdomen, pain during or after sex, and period pain that stops you from doing normal activities.

Earlier this month, Teigen spoke about her endometriosis surgery on social media.

In a video shared on Twitter, Teigen filmed herself reclining on the sofa with plasters over her stomach with love hearts drawn on them.

“I’m okay, I’m home now,” she said. “I’m all numbed up.”

She revealed that her children had been particularly active around her while she was recovering.

“I know kids are extremely antsy beings normally but they absolutely flail, high kick and tornado more when you tell them to be careful around your healing body??” she tweeted.

“They feel the calm energy and they MUST fuckin break it STAT!”

Teigen also asked her followers for advice on recovery.

“Can anyone tell me their experience after endometriosis surgery? what is the recovery-difficulty level? like can I make soup after,” she tweeted, prompted thousands of replies from other women.

“It totally depends on where it is, how much is removed, and if it’s for pain reasons or fertility. Thinking of you,” replied gynaecologist and author Dr Jen Gunter.
