From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The scandal of this year's Edinburgh Festival was why didn't this joyous, rapturously funny show win the Perrier Award? Too theatrical, or so Dame Rumour had it. Hrrrumph. Try telling that to the people who flocked to see what fast became the festival's biggest hit. The night I saw it, the entire audience gave it a standing ovation. I've never seen that happen on the Fringe before. Not bad for a show about two men who discover themselves mysteriously locked in a bathroom. Hamish McColl and Sean Foley (aka The Right Size) have been working together for years now, which accounts for the fluidity and physical grace as they weave in and out of this sublimely silly tale, marrying wit and slapstick in a manner not seen since the heyday of Morecambe and Wise. They have already wowed London with a run at the Lyric Hammersmith. Join them for their West End debut. You won't regret it.
