Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Bob Dylan and Van Morrison head a formidable line-up at Fleadh 97 at Finsbury Park on Saturday 7 June. Among other artists appearing are The Lightning Seeds, The Divine Comedy, Nick Lowe, Suzanne Vega, The Mutton Birds and Brian Kennedy. Now in its eighth year, the Fleadh is London's biggest outdoor music festival.

There are two stages - the Fleadh Stage, and the Time Out Marquee, where the likes of The Specials, The Go Betweens, Sharon Shannon and The Afro Celt Sound System will be playing. If you fancy popping along and rocking with more than 30,000 people but can't get a ticket then read on.

Courtesy of Mean Fiddler and Guinness, we have 10 pairs of tickets for the Fleadh on offer, plus other great prizes. Just answer this question:

What was the title of DA Pennebaker's documentary about Bob Dylan's 1965 tour of England?

First prize, for the first correct entry out of the hat, is two pairs of tickets for the Fleadh, the entire Bob Dylan back catalogue on CD and five crates of Guinness. Second prize is a pair of tickets, a Suzanne Vega back catalogue (five CDs) and five crates of Guinness. Third prize is a pair of tickets, a Divine Comedy back catalogue (four CDs) and five crates of Guinness. Fourth prize is a pair of tickets and a Sharon Shannon back catalogue (three CDs). The next five correct entries out of the hat will each win a pair of tickets for Fleadh 1997.

Send your entries to: Eye/Fleadh 1997 Competition, 8 Poplar Mews, Uxbridge Road, London W12 7JS. Entries must arrive by 23 May.

Tickets to the Fleadh are pounds 30.00 from all Mean Fiddler venues. Credit card hotline: 0171-344 0044. Mean Fiddler information hotline: 0181-963 0940.
