Your support makes all the difference.Beyoncé has issued a cease and desist letter to a brewery in Brooklyn after they created a Beyoncé-inspired beer without the singer’s permission.
The branding on the beer cans was based on the cover of Beyoncé’s fifth studio album.
The so-called “Biëryoncé” beer first went into production when Katarina Martinez, the owner of Lineup Brewing, missed out on tickets to one of Knowles’ concerts.
“As a Hispanic, female run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I’d pay homage,” Martinez told music publication Pitchfork.
“We’re disappointed she didn’t take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!”
As can be expected from any products inspired by the “Formation” star, fans were extremely excited by the launch of the “Biëryoncé” beer.
While drinking the beverage in New York, one woman tweeted: “I just want everyone to know that I may never, ever be more happy than I am right now.”
Another member of the Beyhive tweeted: “Brooklyn’s female-run microbrewery @lineupbrewing has named a beer after the Queen Bey herself called #Biëryoncé and I am heeeere for iiiiiiit!”
When it comes to controversial products, sometimes the tables are turned on celebrities.
In June this year, rock band The Doors sent a cease and desist letter to Kendall and Kylie Jenner after the sisters launched a collection of t-shirts with their faces superimposed over a variety of music icons, including The Notorious B.I.G., Ozzy Osbourne and Tupac Shakur.
Voletta Wallace, whose son The Notorious B.I.G. passed away in 1997, took to Instagram to voice her anger, writing: “This is disrespectful, disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!”
Much to the delight of many Beyoncé fans, the “Biëryoncé” beer is still available to buy until supplies of the one-time batch run out.
