From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On Friday, the 23-year-old model uploaded a series of childhood photographs of herself with Gigi alongside more recent snaps of the two sisters laughing with one another.
Bella also shared a second post featuring more photos of the model duo, including one of Bella asleep on Gigi’s lap while she appears to be getting her hair done.
Several photos appear to have been taken from backstage ahead of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which both models have walked in multiple times.
“Happy birthday to my best friend, leader, teacher, partner in crime,” the caption reads.
“I wouldn’t be able to do this life without you by my side!
“Thank you for being the greatest big sister to me that I could ever ask for. I couldn’t have dreamt you up.
“I am so grateful for everything that you are and I celebrate you not only today, but every day!”
The post has since garnered more than 1.4m likes and thousands of comments, including one from the sisters’ father, Mohamed Hadid.
“That’s beautifully said,” he wrote. “And thank you for having me as your father.”
