Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Just in case you've just come out of a coma, the World Cup is almost upon us. MoS ends their month of football-themed events today with a bang. At 3pm at Westway Sports Centre, North Kensington, W10, England will take on Italy. Messrs Ince and Albertini will be replaced by a selection of DJs battling for their country's honour.

If you miss that epic encounter, tonight at MoS, Jamaica square up to Italy on the Technics. Representing the yellow, green and black are Bobbi & Steve, Frankie Foncett and Paul "Trouble" Anderson, while the Azzurri are DJ Ralph, Ricky Montanari and Massimino.

The first Friday of every month sees Metalheadz return to the Hanover Grand. If there was any lingering doubt in your mind that this collective throw the best drum 'n' bass jams in the UK, then check it out in person.

It's been a long time since Goldie made an appearance, but the dancefloor is always jumping. Dark tunes, spot-on mixing and a lively crowd make this gig a sure thing. Lots of people seem to prefer this venue before the recent refit but at gigs like this, who cares? The grimier the better.

If you thought drum 'n' bass had lost its edge since it exploded into the nation's consciousness four years ago, then you can reafirm your faith in the genre's ongoing development here.

Marley Marl and Ed Rush take centre stage before the excellent Kemistry & Storm take over on the Technics. With Grooverider dropping the beats until quitting time, it's gotta be a sure thing!

This multi-floored venue is probably Brixton's best-known nightspot. It always seems to be rammed with cosmopolitan revellers who come for the relaxed vibe and varied DJ sets. Who says there aren't any decent gigs on Mondays and Tuesdays? - and all for free.

The summer sees a new programme of events that look set to keep the punters flowing in. Tweakin' is new for Monday nights and sees Tony Rossano (Pretzel Logic) chart a journey through the soul-rock-funk spectrum creating a prism of deep house with Kenny Hawkes in tandem.

Forgery continues on Tuesdays with Patrick Forge (Kiss FM) and Richard Welch delivering deep mellow tunes and rare grooves fused with jazz, disco and a touch of drum 'n' bass.

Mon/Tue 389 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton SW9 (0171-738 6532) 9pm-2am free admission.
