On a day of iconic fashion moments, President Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden’s daughter Ashley Biden stood out with a sartorial statement of her own.

On Wednesday night, as the first and second families gathered to celebrate the inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris with the Celebrating America TV special, social media found itself infatuated with the 39-year-old’s chic tuxedo.

For the occasion, Ashley had changed into a black tux by Ralph Lauren with a loosened bow tie and black heels. The president’s daughter completed the look with a high ponytail, simple jewellery and a black mask.

On Twitter, the tuxedo proved to be an instant success, with people admiring the 39-year-old’s choice and hailing her a new style icon.

“Ashley Biden is in a tux. The nation has officially healed,” one person jokingly tweeted.

Another said: “I only want to talk about Ashley Biden and her tux.”

“A new style icon is born,” someone else wrote.

Ashley wasn’t the only Biden family member to earn outfit praise, as the president’s grandchildren were also applauded for their fashion choices on inauguration night, which included a sequined peach Markarian gown with black straps worn by Finnegan Biden, that has since sold out on some sites, and a pink and red Rodarte gown worn by Maisy Biden, which the 20-year-old paired with Nike sneakers.

The family’s outfits were equally admired during the inauguration ceremony, which saw some of the president’s seven grandchildren wearing monochromatic looks paired perfectly with statement jackets.

“I want all the Biden grandchildren’s OUTFITS,” one person tweeted.
