Actor Michael Rapaport angered Ariana Grande fans on Wednesday when he made negative comments about the singer's appearance on social media.
The star, best known for his roles in Atypical and Friends, posted an old photograph of the "Thank U, Next" singer on his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.
He captioned the picture: “Ariana Grande is 27 acts 12, you take off those boots she hides her legs in, the cat eye make-up and the genie pony tale and I think there's hotter women working the counter at Starbucks no disrespect to Starbucks."
The post has drawn criticism from fellow social media users who lambasted the 48-year-old for his disrespectful words.
They also pointed out the singer is 25, not 27.
One user commented on Rapaport's tweet: "Congratulations on getting people to Google who you are, I guess."
"Oh hey look, the cop from Friends is trying to be relevant again," wrote another.
Following the backlash, Rapaport tweeted that when he talks "viciously" about US President Donald Trump he is deemed a "social media hero", but "a joke about Ariana Grande is shaming".
In another post, the actor promoted the latest episode of his podcast, I Am Rapaport, during which he discusses “social media snowflake hypocrisy”.
He later shared several memes of himself parodying the singer, and Photoshopped images of head onto pictures replacing Grande's ex-fiance, comedian Pete Davidson.
Earlier this week, the star apologised for several comments he had made about Davidson, after he learned the Saturday Night Live cast member had recently posted alarming messages about his mental health.
Grande has not yet responded to the actor’s comments.
