From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ariana Grande may not have attended the 61st annual Grammys awards, but she still dressed up as if she had.

The pop star, who announced ahead of the awards show that she would not be attending due to a performance scheduling conflict, shared photos of her dress on social media.

In the photos, the Bad Idea singer poses on the floor in her custom pale blue Zac Posen.

She accessorised with a custom Butani diamond necklace, Borgioni opal diamond earrings, and her signature high ponytail.

Grande captioned the Instagram photo: “When Zac Posen makes you a custom gown it doesn’t matter if you’re singing or not… thank you.”

The gown has been compared to Cinderella’s, with fans of the singer sharing their praise on social media.

“I’m here for this Cinderella fairytale,” one person wrote.

Although she was not in attendance, Grande won her first-ever Grammy award for the Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.

Despite skipping the show, the singer took a moment to share her gratitude for winning the award.

On Twitter, Grande wrote: “I know I’m not there tonight (trust, I tried and still truly wished it had worked out to be honest) and I know I said I try not to put too much weight into these things… but f**k… this is wild and beautiful.

“Thank you so much”.
