The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a new photograph of their son Archie to mark Prince Charles’ 71st birthday.

The image, taken by photographer Chris Allerton on the day of Archie’s baptism in July, shows three generations of the royal family following the ceremony at Windsor castle.

Prince Harry is holding his son and standing next to his father who is looking at baby Archie. Meghan is not in the photograph.

The shot, which was shared on the official Sussex Royal Instagram, is captioned: “Happy birthday to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales – Sir, Pa, Grandpa!” complete with a birthday cake emoji.

The photograph of Archie has already received over 80,000 likes and plenty of birthday messages from well wishers.

Commenters said how much they enjoyed seeing the picture of the family together.

Photographer Chris Allerton was one of only a few guests invited to the baptism event held in Queen Elizabeth’s private chapel at Windsor Castle on 6 July.

Prince Charles is celebrating his 71st birthday on 14 November and is in Mumbai for the occasion.

He marked the day by attending an event with local school children whose education is supported by his charitable foundation, the British Asian Trust.

The children presented the royal heir with a present of tiny figures of Hindu characters in three bonsai gardens. They also shared a chocolate birthday cake.
