On Tuesday, the 35-year-old who is expecting her second child, shared a paid advertisement for Flat Tummy Co’s “organic pregnancy tea” on Instagram.
According to Rose, the tea is meant to help mothers on those “bloated, nauseous, blah feeling days”.
However, despite assuring her more than 18m followers the tea is “safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding,” the model is facing backlash for promoting the controversial teas.
“That bloating is called a baby,” one person wrote.
Another said: “This is so heartbreaking. The pressure that society places on women in general to have 'perfect' bodies is absolute nonsense and should be illegal. And now we are placing those same pressures on pregnant people?”
“Am I missing something here?” someone else asked. “Shouldn’t one be more concerned about the health of the baby than a flat tummy or bloat?”
Outspoken actress Jameela Jamil also expressed her dismay over Rose’s partnership with the brand, writing on Twitter: “FLAT TUMMY PRODUCTS FOR… PREGNANT WOMEN? Is this FDA approved?
“Are we… f***ing… KIDDING?”
According to Flat Tummy Co, its organic pregnancy tea is made with “USDA approved ingredients” such as ginger root, rosehips, lemon balm, stevia, and rooibos.
Under the brand’s FAQ, in response to a question over the safety of consuming the tea while pregnant, it states: “We literally made this blend for our babes with babies!”
