From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Portuguese restaurant chain Nando’s has announced that it will be giving away free food to A-level students collecting their results today.

The culmination of 14 years of study and three years of exams, results day is finally here and whether you’re celebrating or commiserating Nando’s is here to help.

After months of nail-biting suspense, students across the country will today find out if they’ve got the grades they need but what to do afterwards?

Well to wave the stress goodbye, as is their yearly tradition, Nando’s are giving away a free ¼ chicken or Fire Starter to anyone receiving their A-level results.

All you need to do is head to your nearest restaurant, bring your ID and show the staff your results.

You also need to make a minimum spend of £7 to claim the freebie, but why not extend the celebrations to a cheesecake while you’re at it?

If you’re not a chicken fan though, there are plenty of other establishments offering great deals too.

Bella Italia and Toby Carvery are offering 33% off your food bill, while you can get 30% off at Prezzo, and 25% off at Las Iguanas, Ask Italian, Zizzi and Pizza Express.

Fancy celebrating – or drowning your sorrows – with a tipple instead? Then head to Carluccio’s for a complimentary bottle of wine.
