Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.THIS MONTH sees the UK release of The Lost Son (cert. 18), a new film directed by Chris Menges (A World Apart) and featuring French star Daniel Auteuil in his English-language acting debut. Hailed as a piece of contemporary film noir at its finest, The Lost Son tells the story of a London-based private detective (Auteuil), who is asked to find the missing son of an elderly couple. His investigations lead him to explore the darkest reaches of London and of his own soul.
Auteuil is one of France's highest-profile actors, whose international successes include Jean de Florette, La Reine Margot and The Eighth Day. Natassja Kinski and Katrin Cartlidge also star, along with Billie Whitelaw, Marianne Denicourt and Ciaran Hinds. Released by UIP/The Film Consortium, The Lost Son is the second film to be released via funding from the Arts Council's National Lottery Film Franchises, and will be released at selected cinemas on 25 June.
