From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Titan of the high street Topshop has got Christmas domination in its sights beyond clothing us all in the trendiest and woolliest of festive jumpers.

Today Philip Green's franchise has released its first ever Christmas movie starring, and with vocals by, American actress and model Kate Bosworth.

Winter Wonderland a "360 degree interactive digital campaign" is directed by Hollywood great Michael Polish and is inspired by the famous piano scene with Michelle Pffeifer in The Fabulous Baker Boys.

"This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion," says Kate Bosworth.

"I have always been a fan of the Topshop brand and it has been an honour to work with Sir Phillip and the team. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it."

The song is available to download via iTunes and is being released in time to make the UK Official Singles Charts as a contender for the coveted Christmas number one spot.

Olly Murs is the current king of the charts after reaching number one with an album and single.

The former X Factor singer's third album R ight Place Right Time went straight in at number one on the Official Albums Chart on Sunday.

Murs' single "Troublemaker" featuring US rapper Flo Rida held firm for a second week at number one on the Official Singles Chart.

Other number one contenders include the Pogues' "Fairytale of New York" that has entered the top 40 for the eighth year in a row.

Rival retail giant John Lewis might also have a number one star on its hands following the success of Gabrielle Aplin's cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love" which features in this year's ad campaign.

Most years the winner of ITV1 talent show X Factor is in with a good shot for the top of the festive charts.
