The Programme, week 5: Trainer's comments on Rachel
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Neil Price: Rachel has increased her exercise frequency this week after a difficult week previously. Despite a celebratory weekend, Rachel has managed to go running three times this week for about 40 mins each time and also performed some of the workout that was given three times. This will boost her aerobic capacity and challenge her heart and lungs to become stronger.
It is important to remember that almost any amount exercise is beneficial, no matter how small - so do not forgo your 60-minute routine if you do not have much time. Twenty minutes is still better than none and always remember that when it comes to calories, exercise is cumulative.
Rachel is still enjoying her yoga classes and will continue them after The Programme has finished. Rachel?s aerobic progression for this week will be to decrease her rest intervals between fast runs, but aim to maintain the same speed throughout.
