From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robbie Keane will jet to Italy tomorrow to open talks with Inter Milan about a £12million move from Coventry.
The Premiership club confirmed today that talks with the Serie A giants over the 20-year-old Republic of Ireland striker were at an advanced stage and a fee was close to being agreed.
A Coventry spokesman said: "Robbie came into the training ground this morning but left early to speak to his agent and is now going to Italy to talk with Inter Milan."
Sky Blues boss Gordon Strachan admitted Inter's interest in the former Wolves star for the first time this morning, and stressed he would do everything possible to keep him.
But Inter's managing director Gabriele Oriali was already in the process of finalising a deal with Coventry chairman Bryan Richardson, who is currently on a golfing holiday in the United States.
