Online travel review: Yahoo! Travel holds top spot in Hong Kong

Yahoo! Travel Hong Kong was the most visited travel website in Hong Kong last week, according to data from Experian Hitwise.

The website beat Hong Kong Disneyland and online review site TripAdvisor to take first place amongst travel websites for the week ending February 20. Discover Hong Kong, the official tourism guide from Hong Kong's Tourism Board, was in fourth place.

Hong Kong estimates that 782,163 people visited to celebrate the Chinese New Year festival, an increase of 16.9 percent on last year's numbers. Traffic to holiday and hotel booking sites during the period was strong according to Hitwise, with InterContinental Hotels Group, Qunar travel, Agoda and hotel.hk being the most popular hotel booking sites.

In America, Hotwire leapfrogged Yahoo! to become the eighth most popular travel site. The was no change in the top five, which consisted of Expedia, Southwest Airlines, Travelocity, Priceline.com and TripAdvisor (in descending order of popularity).

In Australia, booking site wotif.com was the top travel related website. TripAdvisor took second place whilst totaltravel.com, Stayz and Booking.com made up the rest of the list.
