Considered the premiere industry gathering in the region, South Korea's Pusan International Film Festival will feature a record 355 movies this year from 70 countries, including 98 receiving their world premiere.

World Antiques fair

The fourth Mondial de l'Antiquité (World Antiques fair) takes place at the world's most popular flea market on the outskirts of Paris, France, with about 1,700 antique sellers from across Europe expected to attend the event. Festivities include a meeting of European chefs to cook the world's largest terrine for the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 40th edition of Belgium's International Arts Festival, Europalia, chose China as the central theme for the 50 exhibitions and 450 scheduled shows. Nobel Prize for Literature announcement

The 2009 Nobel Prize for Literature is to be announced on October 8 from Stockholm. Last year, the award went to French author Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio. This international award has existed since 1901.
