The second in a week of Nobel announcements, this year's Nobel Prize for Physics will be announced from Stockholm, Sweden on October 6. Last year's award was split between American physicist Yoichiro Nambu and Japanese researchers Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Maskawa.

Leonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture

The first exhibition to explore Leonardo da Vinci's profound influence on Renaissance sculpture is opening at the High Museum of Art. The exhibition features over 50 works, including more than 25 sketches and studies by Leonardo da Vinci, some of which will be on view in the United States for the first time.

Man Booker Prize

One of the most important literary awards in the world, the 50,000 pound award will be handed out to one of five short-listed authors in Guildhall in London, England on October 6. This year's finalists include The Children's Book by A.S.Byatt, Summertime by J.M. Coetzee, The Quickening Maze by Adam Foulds, Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, The Glass Room by Simon Mawer and The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters.

Turner Prize 2009 exhibit

The work of the shortlisted nominees for the Turner Prize, awarded to a British artist under 50, will be on display at the Tate Britain in London from October 6. This year's shortlisted artists are Enrico David, Roger Hiorns, Lucy Skaer and Richard Wright. Winner will be announced on December 7.
