The World Photography Organisation today reveals the shortlists for the Professional, Open and Youth categories in a year that saw the highest number of submissions to date.

The best in international contemporary photography selected from over 122,000 entries from 170 countries. Topics range from the Syrian conflict, the Obama presidential campaign, cinema goers in Kabul along with landscape and quirky images from the animal kingdom.

The work of all shortlisted photographers will be exhibited at Somerset House, London from 26th April-12th May as part of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.
