Contemporary Istanbul 2009

Contemporary Istanbul is considered by many to be the "most extensive" contemporary and modern art event within Turkey. The art fair presents the art-going public with new perspectives on Turkish art and juxtaposes these with a selection of contemporary works from galleries around the world. Participating galleries have been selected by the Contemporary Istanbul jury. The event features artworks in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, plastic arts, works on paper, photography, installation, video and original graphics. Conferences, exhibitions and additional art projects will run parallel to the event.

GSK Contemporary: Earth

Earth: Art of a changing world will be held during the Royal Academy's second annual contemporary art season in collaboration with GSK Contemporary 2009. The exhibition will showcase new artworks from over 30 contemporary artists. The featured artworks will comment on the earth's changing climate. The exhibition interconnects issues surrounding the climate change debate with art that reflects the topic and examines the ways in which artists have responded to environmental change.

Figure Skating: ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final

The International Skating Union's 2009-10 Grand Prix tour started with the Trophée Eric Bompard in Paris, France on October 15 and will have taken in competitive events in Russia, China, Japan, the USA and Canada before returning to Japan for the finals.

Art for Architecture auction

To benefit the built environment charity Article 25, architects such as Norman Foster and Zaha Hadid as well as artists including Tracey Emin and Christo have donated their works that will be auctioned off at London's Louise T Blouin Foundation.
