From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Justin Timberlake has confirmed rumours that he is to perform live at the Brit Awards 2013.

The former N'Sync singer will appear at London’s 02 Arena on 20 February joining a stellar line-up that includes Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande, Muse and Mumford and Sons.

"We are thrilled to add him to a stellar line-up that will celebrate an amazing year of music and make this one of the strongest BRIT live shows to date.”

News of his return to music was announced last month when he told fans he released his first single in five years “Suit & Tie” which has since hit number one in 31 different countries including the UK.

Timberlake, 32 and newly married to actress Jessica Biel, had teased his fans a week earlier with a cryptic tweet saying "I think I am ready" and linking to a video showing him walking into a studio.

His last performance at the Brit Awards was in 2003 alongside Kylie Minogue.

He has won three Brits, picking up best international album in 2004 and two subsequent best international male title then and again in 2007.

The singer's last album FutureSex/LoveSounds garnered six hit singles including "SexyBack" and gained the singer four of his six Grammy awards.

Timberlake rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of N’Sync and for dating fellow pop star Britney Spears.

After success as a solo artist he turned to acting appearing in 2010 Facebook film The Social Network, 2011's Friends with Benefits and last year's The Trouble With The Curve, alongside Clint Eastwood.

Brits chairman David Joseph told MTV: “Justin is an exceptional artist with global appeal and unrivalled successes.”

"We are thrilled to add him to a stellar line-up that will celebrate an amazing year of music and make this one of the strongest BRIT live shows to date.”
