Avalanche 4, Hurricanes 2
In North Carolina, Brian Rolston poked in a rebound with 5:27 left and Sandis Ozolinsh added a pair of goals as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 Monday night.
Colorado won for only the third time in 14 games when trailing after two periods and snapped a three-game winless streak. Peter Forsberg iced it with an unassisted-breakaway goal with 1:34 left.
The Hurricanes fell to 0-6-2 in their last eight games against Colorado, last beating them Feb. 6, 1996.
Sami Kapanen broke an eight-game scoreless streak with a second-period goal as Carolina led 2-1 before Colorado's third-period rally.

Canadiens 5, Penguins 1
In Montreal, Karl Dykhuis had a goal and two assists as Montreal downed Pittsburgh.
Montreal scored more than four goals for only the third time this season. The Canadiens, who scored only five times in four games, ended a two-game losing streak.
The Penguins lost their second straight following a four-game winning streak after the hiring of coach Herb Brooks on December 9.
Benoit Brunet, Patrick Poulin and Scott Thornton put Montreal up 3-0 in the first period against shaky Pittsburgh goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin.

Maple Leafs 6, Panthers 4
Sunrise, Florida, Nik Antropov had his first career hat trick as Toronto rallied to a victory over Florida.
The Maple Leafs, who trailed 4-2, scored four unanswered goals in the third period.
Antropov's second of the night, and third of the year, with 10:03 left, put Toronto ahead 5-4. It was the Maple Leafs' third goal in just under five minutes.
The loss ended Florida's four-game winning streak and was only the Panthers' third defeat at home. Toronto won its third straight.
Pavel Bure set a Panthers record by scoring in five straight game. Bure, who has 12 goals in seven games, also had two assists.
Ray Whitney had a pair of goals for Florida.
Red Wings 4, Sharks 3
In San Jose, California, Brendan Shanahan had two goals and an assist as Detroit beat San Jose, the Red Wings third win this season over the Sharks.
Sergei Fedorov and Tomas Holmstrom also scored for the Red Wings, who have won five of six.
Owen Nolan scored twice for San Jose, which lost its third straight, to move into a tie with Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr for the league lead with 25 goals.
The Red Wings have a 26-6-2 career mark against the Sharks.
