Help a Hungry Child: The cafes helping The Felix Project support struggling families
'Simply by sharing our unsold daily bread, we are making a real difference to peoples’ lives,' says Paul CEO
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.During our Help A Hungry Child Appeal, three popular cafe chains supported The Felix Project’s work to help struggling families by adding a donation on selected items throughout December.
Sales of mince pies at Daylesford and Coco di Mama, and sales of some loaves of bread at Paul helped raise a total of £16,434 for The Felix Project.
Jean-Michel Orieux, CEO of Paul, said: “We are very proud to have been working with The Felix Project, for over a year now and it’s wonderful to know that simply by sharing our unsold daily bread, we are making a real difference to peoples’ lives.
"For Christmas 2017 we again asked our customers to help, this time raising £13,280.00 for the charity from bread sales.”
Deniz Safa, Head of Food at Coco di Mama, said: “No child should go to bed hungry. We hope Coco di Mama’s contribution to the Help a Hungry Child Appeal will support the movement in feeding those most vulnerable.
"Positive changes we make today will play a part in the future of the next generation. We look forward to continuing our relationship with The Felix Project and tackling London’s food waste and hunger issues.”
