Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Bidding is due to close later today in our first Christmas Appeal auction. Final bids must be lodged before 10pm tonight, with nearly 30 exciting offers up for grabs.
Lots include exclusive holidays in Thailand, Switzerland and the Himalayas, while collectors of sporting memorabilia can bid for a cycling top signed by Chris Froome, an Arsenal shirt autographed by first-team players and a signed Spurs ball.
Amazing experiences including a dream day at Lord’s, a visit to the Land Rover sailing team set up by Ben Ainslie and tickets to a Britain’s Got Talent semi-final – with a meet and greet with Simon Cowell – could make for perfect Christmas presents.
Angela Hartnett will cook dinner for one lucky bidder and up to 29 guests at Refettorio Felix in another exclusive opportunity. Her one-off menu will comprise dishes created from ingredients that commonly become food waste in recognition of our campaign.
A Dave Brown original cartoon, previously seen in The Independent, is also on offer, as is the chance to bag a one-off, Independent front page commemorating a birthday, anniversary or other personal event.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards our Help a Hungry Child appeal, which is raising funds for the Felix Project’s new scheme to ensure hungry youngsters have access to healthy and nutritious food.
