Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. One of the world’s most famous fashion stores will open its doors after-hours for a rare private shopping experience.
Topshop is offering six friends the chance to have its flagship Oxford Street store all to themselves in the ultimate personal shopping event.
The three storey, 90,000 square foot store, which is the equivalent size of 1,800 buses standing end to end, will close to all other customers and its personal shopping team will work exclusively for the six friends.
The experience is one of the unique items being sold at the Quintessentially Foundation Fayre of St James auction - and all proceeds will go to the Felix Project through our Christmas campaign.
Other normally not-for-sale lots include the opportunity to have renowned British chef Simon Rogan cook for you and 20 guests at Massimo Bottura’s Refettorio Felix, a community kitchen in Earl’s Court.
A nine-course menu with paired wines at The Greenhouse in Mayfair is also up for grabs. Four people can enjoy the meal with a bottle of Champagne and a private visit from executive chef Arnaud Bignon during the meal. The Greenhouse is one of only nine restaurants in London to have been awarded two Michelin stars.
Other lots include dinner with Stephen Fry, a personal styling session with fashionista Trinny Woodall and a five night luxury holiday to the Maldives.
Organised by Quintessentially Foundation and The Crown Estate in partnership with The Berkeley Foundation, the Fayre of St James, one of the most highly anticipated Christmas concerts in London, takes place tonight (Tuesday 28) at the Church of St James in Piccadilly, and the Felix Project is the sole beneficiary.
Tickets for the star-studded carol service sold out within days for up to £500 each.
Ellie Goulding and Tom Chaplin will perform during the evening, and there will be readings by Stephen Fry, Cressida Bonas and actor Stephen Campbell Moore.
Ben Elliot, co-founder of Quintessentially said: “It is unbelievable that 70,000 children are going to school hungry every day and the work that the Felix Project are doing to combat this figure is both impressive and humbling. I am determined that we support them in reducing food poverty across our city.”
