Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. What's this? Is Britpop making a comeback?
Well, it's been in the air for a while now: Blur had a successful reunion back in 2009, and now Pulp are back together. After nine years apart, Sheffield's finest have played a string of comeback gigs, including a critically acclaimed surprise set at Glastonbury last weekend which went down a storm. Last night they headlined the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park.
What's Jarvis been up to all these years?
Pursuing a somewhat low-key solo career that has seen him release two albums and collaborate with the likes of Nancy Sinatra and Marianne Faithfull. He also hosts a radio show on BBC's 6Music.
Hold on, didn't he do a gig at Hogwarts once?
Oddly enough he did. Cocker made a cameo appearance as the lead singer of Hogwarts band the Weird Sisters in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He also lent his voice talents to Wes Anderson's animated film Fantastic Mr Fox.
And now he's back where it all began...
Yes, indeed. Keeping to the nostalgic theme, he's just signed a deal with publisher Faber to release a book of his lyrics entitled Mother, Brother, Lover.
