Pay-As-You-Like charity dinner to spread Christmas cheer
With profits going to charities CALM and Centrepoint, you can eat, drink, be merry and philanthropic
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In the spirit of the festive season, on Saturday 23rd December East London restaurant Cub will be hosting a 'Pay-As-You-Like' dinner, with all profits going to the charities CALM and Centrepoint. It means you can get a head start on that New Year's resolution to do more for charity, too.
Cub will be closed over Christmas and New Year, so not only is it the last chance to squeeze in a visit this year, it's also going to ensure that absolutely nothing goes to waste whilst supporting charities close to the Lyan team's heart. Bringing people together under one roof, in a way that allows people to enjoy some good things to eat and drink.
A full menu will be served with all the bells and whistles, and it's more than likely there will be some extra special fancy bits that wouldn't normally be served. Reservations are strongly advised as spaces are limited and can be made by visiting www.lyancub.com.
CALM, AKA, The Campaign Against Living Miserably is a non-profit dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. While charity Centrepoint helps give homeless young people a future by helping them into housing, training and jobs.
Cub is the new luxury, drinks-led dining experience from Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan) and Doug McMaster of Brighton's zero-waste restaurant Silo which launched in September of this year. Blurring the boundaries of food and drink to bring them closer together, guests are taken on a set menu journey, whereby each drink or dish leads beautifully on to the next. With a strong focus on sustainability and minimising waste, abundant ingredients that would normally be wasted are showcased in dishes and drinks.
