The WWE is back with more high-flying action on consoles. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s game
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.WWE 2K16 is back, and 2K promises that this year’s entry will be bigger than ever. With an enormous roster, better customisation options and updates to the fundamental in-ring action, fans will hope this year’s offering significantly improves on last year’s disappointment. Here’s 7 things you need to know
When is WWE 2K16 out?
The release date for WWE 2K16 is October 30, 2015. It launches on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
WWE 2K16’s roster is huge
2K has promised to deliver over 125 wrestlers in WWE 2K16. As a comparison, WWE 2K15 had just 67 wrestlers. This year will feature more competitors from WWE’s development program, NXT, too.
Many of the wrestlers have already been announced, below is a list of some of the biggest names:
- Stone Cold Steve Austin
- Seth Rollins
- Triple H
- Brock Lesnar
- Kevin Owens
- Ric Flair
- Sting
- Roman Reigns
- Ultimate Warrior
- ...and many more.
You can also play as Arnold Schwarzenegger in WWE 2K16
Fans who pre-order WWE 2K16 will receive two playable versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger, both from his appearances in The Terminator movie franchise. You’ll get to wrestle as Arnie’s iconic T-800 from Terminator and Terminator 2.
MyCareer mode is only for PS4/Xbox One versions of WWE 2K16
For players on Xbox 360 and PS3, it’s important to be aware that you will not receive MyCareer Mode. Unfortunately 2K has deemed it a “current-gen” exclusive for PS4 and Xbox One. PS3 and Xbox 360 still get the complete roster, but unfortunately won’t be able to see how these wrestlers play out in a long-running career.
The Creation Suite is much better
Fans who like to create their own belts and arenas will be able to do so once again. WWE 2K15 were disappointed by the restrictive customisation options, but this year Create-A-Wrestler, -Diva, -Entrance, -Belt, -Arena and even -Show are back.
Does WWE 2K16 have a Season Pass?
Yes. WWE 2K16’s Season Pass will include both story-driven content and new wrestlers. The story-based content will focus on 2K’s WWE Showcase Mode, which takes iconic storylines from WWE history and allows players to re-live the most important matches of these rivalries.
Some of the wrestlers available with the Season Pass as downloadable content include Dusty Rhodes, Trish Stratus and Big Boss Man.
The RRP for the season pass is currently listed at $24.99/£19.99.
What about a WWE 2K16 Special Edition?
The WWE 2K16 Special Edition is a GAME exclusive and costs £74.99. It includes the game, the Season Pass, a WWE 2K3:16 Stone Cold Steve Austin Pop Vinyl figure, a Slam Attax packet of trading cards and the Terminator pre-order bonus.
