From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Even the hype of the impending Olympic Games wasn’t enough of a springboard to push London 2012 above Lego Batman 2 in this week’s all formats videogames chart.

This week’s only new entry is Dead Island GOTY Edition (which barely registers as a new entry at all) in a chart that confirms that there is indeed a summer drought of games releases right now, even if we’ve yet to actually see much of an actual summer to justify it.

Top 40 Entertainment Software (All Prices), Week Ending 7 July 2012:

1 – LEGO BATMAN 2: DC SUPER HEROES – WARNER BROS.
2 – LONDON 2012: THE OFFICIAL VIDEO GAME – SEGA
3 – THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN – ACTIVISION
4 – SPEC OPS: THE LINE – 2K GAMES
5 – DEAD ISLAND GOTY EDITION – KOCH MEDIA
6 – THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM – BETHESDA
7 – FIFA 12 – EA
8 – CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3 – ACTIVISION
