From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Rockstar Games has posted the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, teasing beautiful, bucolic new vistas in a vast Western landscape.
What looks like original game's protagonist, John Marston, is seen from behind in the one-minute clip for the new title, but the voiceover comes from a new character.
"Listen to me, when the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back," he warns. "This is over."
There is no gameplay footage, but we do see a man emerging from horizon on horseback, a deer wandering through a forest, a network of creeks, a pitched campfire (where you saved the game in the original), a farmer with a horse, a steam train, a small town general store, birds pecking at a body and, finally, seven cowboys riding across the desert with pistols drawn.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on Xbox One and PS4 in autumn 2017, with Rockstar describing it as "an epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland".
