The forthcoming Ratchet & Clank sequel for the PS5 has been teased as the “best-looking” video game ever made by its developers.

A trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a sequel to the 2013 game Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, debuted earlier this week, and some developers at studio Insomniac Games have been speaking ahead of the game’s June release.

Drew Murray, a Principal Designer at Insomniac who didn’t work on Rift Apart, said: “This is the best-looking video game ever made. Period.

“It won’t be forever, of course, but on June 11, I 100% stand behind that statement. And I say that having had literally no hand in making it, just observing with awe since I returned to @insomniacgames #stunning”

Insomniac’s Community Director James Stevenson shared a similar sentiment, writing: “I’ve played through the game at home on my 77″ OLED. It’s the best looking video game I’ve ever seen.

“The team has knocked this out of the park to create a PS5 showpiece.”

Scott Lowe, a games industry communications professional with experience working for Activision and Naughty Dog, described Rift Apart’s developers as “wizards”.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a modern AAA game where gameplay so closely hits the same visual fidelity bar of cinematics,” he wrote.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released on PS5 on 11 June.
