Nintendo have revealed a new wave in amiibo toys during its Nintendo Direct briefing today.

The new collection will consist of Nintendo heroes Charizard, Ness and Luciana, antagonist Wario, and retro Pac Man.

All of the characters will be compatible with the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.

The collection will be released alongside a revamped assortment of Super Smash Bros and Super Mario amiibos.

Available from March 20, the line-up will consist of Nintendo favourites, such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser who will be donning new stances.

The Super Mario amiibo will be compatible with the upcoming Mario Party 10, also released on March 20.

Nintendo announced that the new amiibos will have the same functionality as the last, allowing players to choose their preferred design.

A new Toad amiibo was also revealed, which will update the functionality of Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker by hiding a pixelated toad in each level of the game for players to find.
