Capcom have confirmed that the brawler collection that is Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins will be released on 25 September for PS3 (via PSN for £11.99), with the XBLA version to follow just a day later for 1200 MS Points.
Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins is a compilation of two of Capcom’s most iconic fighters: Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. To coin a phrase that used to mean more than it really does today they’re described as ‘arcade-perfect’ – though perhaps it’s worth noting that this time that means the titles have been held back in order to keep game speed and animations faithful to that of the originals.
That said Capcom have confirmed modern features such as online play options, a HD makeover, dynamic challenges and even the chance to save replays.
Marvel Super Heroes is not only famous for its roster of comic book heroes but also for introducing the ‘Infinity Gem’ system which lends additional power-ups to fighters. Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes meanwhile was noteworthy for introducing Capcom fighters from outside the Street Fighter stable into 2D fighting game arena.
