Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.GTA and Red Dead Redemption players are being given free benefits in games – just for being members of Amazon Prime.
Players will get in-game bonuses if they are also users of Twitch Prime, Amazon's premium video game streaming service.
Anyone who has either an Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription can also get Twitch Prime for free, giving them access to the special bonuses.
The deal comes as Amazon attempts to promote both its video streaming service Twitch and also Amazon Prime Day. That event will take place later this month and claims to offer a variety of deals, but is often criticised for being disappointing.
All that players have to do is link their Rockstar Social Club membership with their Twitch Prime one, and the free gifts and discounts will start.
Twitch and developers Rockstar promised that the "free in-game rewards, bonuses and exclusive discounts" will continue for the next "several months", and begins now.
Anyone who links their accounts to claim the free benefits by 19 July will get access to the initial rewards.
That includes a free bonus of GTA$1,250,000 in GTA Online and RDO$300 in Red Dead Online. Players in Red Dead Redemption will also get a Superior Ammo Bundle, giving them a whole host of different ammunition for various weapons.
The tie-up will later bring discounts on paid-for items in both games.
To be eligible for the tie-up, players need to ensure they have completed the tutorials and have played for at least 30 minutes.
