It is not easy to conjure the kinetic thrills of aerial dogfighting on a miniature black box, but Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. takes an admirable stab at the task in its iPhone incarnation. If the multiplayer can’t hold a candle to that on offer in F.A.S.T., an impressively long play-time and deeply satisfying single-player combat more than make up for it. Clancy won’t win a Pulitzer, but on this evidence his lasting contribution to handheld button-bashing seems assured.
