From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In the latest update, players will be given the ability to stop trying to kill each other and instead work together to create entirely new worlds in which they can do whatever they want.
The new features will arrive in the upcoming Season 7, developers Epic said in a blog post that introduced the new mode.
"It’s a brand new way to experience the world of Fortnite, available on December 6. Design games, race around the island, battle your friends in new ways and build your dream Fortnite," it wrote in its post. "It’s all happening on your own private island where everything you make is saved."
The feature will first roll out on 7 December, when all players with the paid-for battle pass will be given access to their own private island, onto which they can invite friends. A week later, it will be released to all players, giving everyone their own private island for free.
As time goes on, a whole host of updates will come to the new game mode, Epic said.
"Fortnite Creative is new and exciting, but not final," it wrote. "We’ll be adding many new features and improvements over the next few updates. Like Battle Royale and Save the World, we’re committed to making this bigger and better over time."
