Marvel’s Avengers players discover MCU Easter egg reference to Age of Ultron and Endgame

Your support makes all the difference.Eagle-eyed players have spotted an Easter egg in Marvel’s Avengers which nods towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The reference concerns Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, and ties into both Avengers: Age of Ultron and one of the most popular beats in Avengers: Endgame.
Across the Marvel franchise, Thor’s hammer is impossible to lift, except for those it deems “worthy”.
In Ultron, several of the avengers are seen attempting to lift the hammer, but none (bar Thor) succeed. For a split second, however, it seems as if Captain America (Chris Evans) could manage it.
Then, in Endgame, Captain America is seen wielding the hammer in earnest, during the climactic fight with arch-villain Thanos (Josh Brolin).
In Marvel’s Avengers, released last week on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, players can visit all the different characters’ quarters once they have unlocked the full roster of heroes.
If you visit Thor’s room, you will find his trademark hammer resting on the floor, which players can then attempt to lift.
While characters such as Black Widow, Iron Man, Ms Marvel all fail to lift Mjolnir at all, as Captain America, you can raise it ever so slightly off the ground — Age of Ultron-style.

Avengers features a number of nods to the MCU, as well as the original Marvel comics, but features as its own distinct story and new versions of its characters.
More characters are set to be added to the game post-launch, including Hawkeye and Spider-man, the latter of which will only be available on the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.
Data mines have also suggested that characters including Black Panther and Doctor Strange will be added to the game at a later date.
