The chilly weather will affect eastern England, with temperatures falling to 0C as far south as London. Snow will also fall across the Scottish Highlands, and is expected to settle at higher altitudes.
Snow or sleet will fall across eastern parts of the UK, while the West and South-west will probably be unaffected.
Livingston, in West Lothian, will see the coldest overnight temperature with minus -5C while the Scilly Isles will experience highs of 9C.
The weather in the capital probably won't settle, so is expected to cause little disruption on Monday. The snow comes after temperatures of -14C hit parts of Scotland last night, with snow falling across much of the Highlands.
Severe weather warnings were in place for snow and ice across Scotland and eastern England and are set to continue until Monday lunchtime.
The weather warnings followed floods across the UK. Richmond, Kew, and Putney in west London were submerged with a metre of floodwater after heavy rains hit the capital.
Bookmaker Coral has lowered odds on February being the wettest on record, with odds dropping from 4-6 to 1-2. Coral spokesperson John Hill told the Guardian: “The gamble on this month being the wettest February we have ever seen in the UK has picked up pace over the last week and following another flurry of bets, the odds now suggest it is very likely that we will be in for a record month of rainfall.”The rest of the week should see cold and bright weather across the UK.
Temperatures are predicted to rise by the end of the week.
