When it comes to work-outs, it's not just your abs that need attention. A new generation of health clubs are springing up that work the mind.

Vibrant Brains ( www.vibrantbrains.com), recently opened in San Francisco to offer group mind-exercise activities via a network of computer workstations, while in Florida, Sparks of Genius ( www.sparksofgenius.com) provides bespoke mental work-outs, assessing which areas clients need to work on – from processing speed and multi-tasking to memory.

If that feels a little far away (although it's only a matter of time before it arrives here), check out Vivity Labs' recently launched Fitbrains website ( www.fit brains.com), which is filled with games that work your concentration, memory, spatial and cognitive skills.
