Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. My approach to fashion is, above all, about fun. I hate that boring red-carpet look you see so much of today – all long dresses and Jimmy Choos. Amy Winehouse may be a bit of a nutter but at least she dresses with some personality.
I love prints and colour and just bought a dress from New Zealand designer Karen Walker (www.karenwalker.com) in bright orange that I'll wear in a pared-down way, with simple shoes and one of this season's stripy Prada bags (www.prada.com).
If I'm after something quirky I go to The Girl Can't Help It in Alfie's Antique Market (www.alfiesantiques.com). My latest finds were a 1950s prom dress and 1960s leopard-print mules. I'm usually in heels; my staple summer daytime shoe is a Topshop wedge (www. topshop.co.uk, right) but in the evening I go a bit wilder with YSL strappy sandals – I call them my lap-dancer shoes as the heels are so high (www.ysl.com)
Ironically, at a photo shoot, make-up artists usually wear less make-up than anyone, but at other events there's a lot of pressure to look flawless so I'll make a big effort. Never underestimate the power of a good pair of eyelash curlers to transform your face – Shu Uemura makes the best (www.shuuemura.com).
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (below) adds great polish to skin so you look subtly groomed without too much effort (www.becca cosmetics.com). No7 lipliner in nude (www.boots.com) with some lip balm is all you need for a perfect natural look. As far as my hair goes, I'm all about heated rollers and tousled, 1970s-style locks right now.
I went to the Kinara Spa in LA (www.kinaraspa.com) and absolutely loved it, so I now use its skincare products; its Lactic Acid Hydrating Serum is genius.
Lisa Eldridge is the make-up expert on '10 Years Younger', which returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday at 8pm
