From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The industry rumour mill has been in overdrive since September, when it was first confirmed that Hartnett would not be returning to run her Michelin-starred signature restaurant at The Connaught, when the famous Mayfair hotel, which closed for refurbishment at the end of March, reopened at the end of the year.
Hartnett's new Italian, due to open at the end of May next year, is to be called Murano, after the decorative Venetian glass, and will also be in Mayfair, occupying the ground floor of 20-22 Queen Street, the site having previously housed upmarket Chinese Zen Central, with the Michelin-starred Indian Tamarind located in the basement.
Meanwhile, there's bad news at The Connaught, which, though it has just reopened, is still without a new star chef, its deal to bring in Alain Passard (pictured) from L'Arpge in Paris apparently having fallen through.
