With a staggering 232,000 Instagram followers, Stephanie Yeboah knows a little something about recommending products to a big audience.

After making a name for herself with her plus size fashion blog, Nerd About Town, it’s no surprise that she’s become a leading authority on all things style.

Indeed, her outfit posts regularly garner thousands of likes and comments from fans, all of whom want to emulate her effortlessly cool wardrobe.

But those in the know also trust Stephanie to recommend everything from a brilliant beauty buy to their next must-have read – which makes her a perfect candidate for our Gamechangers series, where we ask influential people to pick their top must-have products across a whole range of categories (think the most used item in their bedroom, the tech they can’t travel without and the luxury item that’s 100 per cent worth the splurge).

We asked Stephanie to share everything from her favourite kitchen gadget to the book she recommends to everyone, and now we want basically everything she’s suggested. Don’t blame us if more than a couple of these end up in your basket.

Best Amazon buy: Freatech hair scalp massager

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-amazon-scalp-massager-indybest.jpg

I’m still in awe as to how something so basic could provide my hair with so many amazing benefits. Using a scalp massager in my hair while washing has not only increased the length and thickness of it over the last couple of months (by stimulating the circulation), but it also feels absolutely incredible, and helps shift the build-up of oils and product, making my hair feel so much healthier. Combine with a peppermint shampoo for an out of body, tingling experience!

Kitchen gadget I couldn’t live without: Blendjet 2

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-blendjet-2-indybest.jpg

I first came across this gadget via a targeted Instagram ad and decided to check it out as I was in dire need of a blender for smoothies. I’m so glad I took the leap, as the BlendJet is amazing. The USP of this one is that it is completely wireless and also doubles as a cup, meaning you can blend and sip on the go. Its powerful motor means blending takes 20 seconds before it automatically shuts off and trust me: ANYTHING can be blended in this bad boy.

Secret beauty bargain: The Inkey List hyaluronic acid serum

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-the-inkey-list-hyaluronic-acid.jpg

Known for holding almost 1,000 times its own weight in water, including hyaluronic acid in my daily regimen has completely revolutionised the health and appearance of my skin, providing it with a much-needed boost of hydration every day. I have tried a variety of different brands over the years, but The Inkey List’s version is just superb. The formula is incredibly concentrated without feeling tacky on my face, and I never have to wait long to see results. I’m such a fan of the brand that I’ve also bought a host of its other serums and treatments too.

Most-worn wardrobe investment: Asos curve high rise slouchy mom jeans

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-asos-curve-mom-jeans-indybest.jpg

By now, I’m pretty sure that I’ve owned every variation of these specific jeans: indigo, black, ripped, vinyl, leopard print, you name it, I’ve had it! As someone with a short torso and long legs, I sometimes find it hard to buy mom or boyfriend jeans due to the high waist always sitting a little too high, but these jeans fit around my waist perfectly. Not only are they incredibly comfortable and look great with every outfit, they also keep their shape and wash really well too. I’ve had my current pairs for over four years and they still hold up amazingly.

The boring purchase that makes chores easier: Spontex microfibre cloth pack of four

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-spontex-microfibre-cloths-indybest.jpg

We all love a good multi-purpose cloth: something that can be used to clean an array of different surfaces: glass? You got it! Wood? Bring it on. Leather? Light work! For me, the game completely changed when I accidentally threw a couple of these cloths into the washing machine and saw how squeaky clean they came out once the cycle was done. Now I’m not sure if microfibre cloths are meant to only be used a few times before throwing away or not, but I’ve had my current ones for four months and counting and despite many washes in the machine, the fibres are still super absorbent, trapping dust, oil and grime with ease.

Most used item in my bedroom: Ikea sinnlig scented candle

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-ikea-vanilla-candler-indybest.jpg

Second only to my bed, the most used thing in my bedroom would have to be Ikea’s vanilla candles, which pack an impressive scented punch considering their cost. I am an absolute candle fiend, lighting a few around my apartment every day, all day (except for when I leave the house of course!)  and so every morning as soon as I wake up, I light one of these candles. It leaves a beautiful warm, sweet scent that doesn’t have that sickly, sits-at-the-back-of-your-throat aroma that some vanilla candles can occasionally have.

Workout saviour: ActiveForever strong foam roller

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-activeforever-foam-roller-indybest.jpg

Incorporating a foam roller into my everyday workouts has been a real game changer for me. Due to my many sprains, dislocations and fractures as a teenager, my knees aren’t at their strongest anymore, so being able to use these rollers to massage the ligaments in my legs and around my knees before doing a workout really helps loosen my knees up, and makes squatting and lunges a lot less painful.

The book I recommend to everyone: ‘The Body Keeps the Score’ by Bessel Van Der Kolk, published by Penguin

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-the-body-keeps-score-indybest.jpg

The vast majority of us will have experienced at least some manifestation of trauma in our lives and for me, this book has been amazing in explaining how trauma lives and manifests itself in the body. Everything from occasional forgetfulness, having tense shoulders and our fight-or-flight responses, to defense mechanisms and attachment conditions are explained in layman’s terms, alongside practical alternative approaches towards healing the mind, brain and body.

Tech I have to take when I travel: JBL go 2 wireless Bluetooth speaker

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-jbl-speaker-indybest.jpg

There’s nothing quite like having your favourite tunes blasting out on full volume while in your hotel room, getting ready for a night out on the town. As someone who will make an entire journey back home or purchase new earphones while out if I’ve forgotten mine at home (terrible, I know!), music is something I literally cannot live without, and the JBL go 2 speaker is able to produce an exceptionally loud sound for such a tiny gadget. I take mine absolutely everywhere, and has been one of my favourite tech purchases to date.

Luxury item that’s worth the money: Penhaligon’s quercus cologne

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-penhaligons-quercus.jpg

You know that feeling when you smell a fragrance for the first time and it awakens every one of your senses in that one moment? That’s the feeling I had when I first tried what is now my signature scent, Quercus, from British heritage perfumer Penhaligon’s. Created by William Penhaligon who was later appointed as the official Perfumer to the Royal Court, the brand was  given the Royal Warrant of Appointment – a recognition of quality and excellence. Not only are the brand’s fragrances meticulously created with incredible longevity, but everything from the beautiful packaging and the romantic, regal aesthetic is an absolute dream. A stunning brand!

One product I use every day without fail: Laneige lip sleeping mask

stephanie-yeboah-gamechangers-laniege-lip-sleeping-mask-indybest.jpg

For me, the Laneige lip balm is one of the greatest lip balms of all time and at the time of writing this, I am currently on my fifth tub over the space of a year and a half. The lip mask is designed to be worn before bed, hence the formula being thicker than your average lip balm, however I wear this throughout the day as not only is it super moisturising, but it also doubles as a great primer for liquid lipsticks, ensuring that the lipstick doesn’t bleed into the lip line or creases within the lips. I absolutely refuse to acknowledge any other lip balm aside from Laneige, and long may they reign.
